Monstrous nights at Perth Theatre with Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein

Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is a story we all know well; a man caught in the embrace of science throws ethics aside and creates a monster. From lifeless parts, he assembles his creation then, by unknown means fires life into the amalgam. The creature lives! Guaranteeing that the scientist's name is forever tied to his dangerous experiment; Dr Frankenstein and his monster.
So what's different about Perth Theatre's latest production of this well-known tale? In short, this version contains not only the monster, and his creator Dr Frankenstein; this time we also meet the individual responsible for creating them both, as a young Mary Shelly joins both characters on stage.

Mary Shelly wrestles with her creation and with the struggles faced by a young woman with a dynamic and revolutionary spirit. Allowing us to see how these struggles manifested in her time and in our own.
This is a truly unique retelling of a well-known story and one that's sure to have you talking in the cafe/bar after the performance.
About the production
Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is a Perth Theatre at Horsecross Arts Production and is co-produced with Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Selladoor Productions and Matthew Townshend Productions. This retelling of the classic tale has been carefully adapted by talented Scottish playwright Rona Munro.
