Sensational summer treats at Murrays Bakers
Monday, 15th July
Murrays are well in the swing of summer with their always-welcome seasonal addition of their amazing strawberry tarts. What’s more, Murrays are always trialling new products (there’s always room for a new surprise), so stay tuned to their Facebook feed to see what new and tasty delights they have in store for you. Here are just a few of the summer treats at Murrays you can enjoy over the next couple of months.
A more permanent addition was their brand-spanking-new coffee machine back in March. They're now equipped to cater for your savoury and sweet needs, whilst offering high-quality caffeination to go alongside. Nothing nicer than a fancy wee coffee with your pastries.
A lighter savoury bite for summer?
Linda has been pleasantly surprised to find that Murray’s quiches have grown to become as popular as they are. They’ve tried a few fillings but the clear winners have been their cheese and tomato and ham and onion. Light, crumbly pastry, and a savoury filling; what’s not to like?
Bigger Appetite? No Problem
Tattie and Bean Pies (AWARD WINNING tattie and bean pies!) have become a popular choice for Murrays customers as well. Something so simple yet satisfying about a tattie and bean pie.
Murrays also make little pizzas which have gained quite a following, a menu introduction that has become a surprise favourite.
Over the past couple of months have there been any moments in your business that have left you scratching your head (e.g. odd customer requests, mistakes by suppliers, etc.)?
One particular dish which is growing in popularity is the pie in a roll. No one is quite sure what brought this old favourite to become so popular again but they think it might have something to do with people sharing pictures of this king of carbohydrates through social media. There’s not much that could fill you quite so much when you’re in need of a ‘proper’ filling up.
A pineapple tart of distinction
One choice that works as well as any summer treats at Murrays (but which is available all year round) are their delicious pineapple tarts. Linda explained the thinking behind Murrays’ distinctive version of the pineapple tart. Most bakers mound the fondant icing into a peak, however, Murrays wanted a pastry which gave you a burst of zingy pineapple, creamy fondant icing, and crumbly pastry, with every mouthful. They flattened out the shape to ensure that every mouthful was as good as the last.
Catering for all occasions
Murrays are stretching out into outside catering and can produce a selection of their favourite pies and other delights for your party. What’s more, these treats have been miniaturised into little bite-sized morsels. Considerable effort has gone into tweaking the recipe of these smaller pies, adjusting quantities, temperatures, and cooking times, to create a mini pie that tastes just as good as it’s bigger cousins.
We can’t think of a better treat to offer guests at a party or evening reception. Nostalgia for those who grew up in Perth, but tasty for anyone; they’re the perfect addition to any celebration or function.
Rewarding for your taste buds but also for your wallet
With all of these summer treats at Murrays to choose from surely they're their own reward. Actually, you could be earning money back every time you make a purchase at Murrays bakers (if you're a Mi Rewards member that is).
