Game On at Big Dog Books: Screens down for tabletop gaming
Saturday, 6th October
We’ve been led to believe that computer games have taken over. That screens, and bleeps, and controllers have become all that there is to playing games. However, there is another way. You can enjoy unplugged tabletop gaming to the fullest with Big Dog books.
We recently caught up with Stuart, owner of Big Dog books. He was happy to tell us more about the growing popularity of tabletop gaming. In Stuart’s case, the tabletop games enjoyed by his patrons include, among many, Magic the Gathering (a fantasy-themed card game), Pokemon, a huge selection of weird and wonderful board games, and Dungeons and Dragons.
Stuart has been pleasantly surprised by the popularity of Dungeons and Dragons in Perth. It's certainly not on the way out. In fact Stuart estimates that there may be as many as 100 people who play on a regular basis. With 6 organised groups and many casual groups. Big Dog Books does what it can to support the thriving community surrounding this popular tabletop game in Perth.
They host a number of specific D&D events throughout the month, along with gaming nights and leagues for an incredible range of different games. Their calendar is absolutely packed, and Stuart encourages an open, safe, and friendly format for every event.
You can get away from the screens and meet some people, test your imagination, and your strategic skills; all in the centre of Perth.

Who knew that Tabletop Gaming could be so Rewarding?
Don’t forget that Big Dog Books is one of many businesses in Perth participating in the Mi Rewards programme. This means that you can collect 1 Mi Point for every pound you spend in Big Dog Books which is something Stuart is happy to see.
Stuart explains that his favourite thing about Mi Rewards is that it offers Big Dog Books the opportunity to reward people for supporting their local community.
Stuart hopes that offering Mi Points on purchases in his store will give customers the opportunity to try new things in Perth (e.g. using their Perth Gift Card to try a new restaurant for lunch, or to shop in a new place). Because something that encourages you to explore what your city has to offer can’t be a bad thing.
As Stuart puts it, it’s nice to be able to ‘spread the love’.
You can sign up for Mi Rewards by clicking this link. Membership is free and you'll be rewarded you every time you shop. On top of that you can enjoy access to a host of offers and free prize draws throughout the year.
Big Dog Books are open from 12 -8pm every day, but they sometimes open later for specific events like game nights and pre-releases.
